Has it been a week....

I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted. My days seem to be so busy lately. It seems like the faster I go, the behinder I get.

My sister Charlotte is still in the hospital and is hoping to go home in a day or so. She had a bit of a setback with nausea and vomiting, and had to have an NG tube put in for a few days. It was very uncomfortable and she was quite upset having it there. Once she can eat and digest food properly, she'll get the go ahead to be discharged.

Our household was very busy last weekend. Melissa, Mike and MissM came on Friday and stayed until Sunday. My youngest, Tina, came out on Saturday and we went and bought the dress for Melissa for her wedding in October. On Sunday, MissT and LittleN came out and I got a picture of the three grandchildren with their mommies.

Today was Canada Day, celebrating the 142nd anniversary of Confederation. After I had taken care of things at my sister's house and stopped by the hospital to visit, Eldon and I took a drive over the new Golden Ears Bridge. The bridge opened recently and connects our community on the north side of the Fraser River with communities on the south side. Coming home we went through historic Fort Langley and took the Albion Ferry back across to the north side of the river. We stopped at a garden centre and I got two plants for my patio tables. It was a beautiful sunny day and I really enjoyed myself.

I hope all is well in your corner of the world and you're enjoying Summer. Take care and thanks for stopping in to visit.

Words on Wednesday...

It's raining today and I'm glad. It means that I don't have to do the watering at my house and at my sister's house. Good old Mother Nature is giving me a hand. It gives me a chance to get the dusting and vacuuming done.

Charlotte had her surgery on Monday morning and the surgeon did what he had planned to do. There were no surprises and he's confident the problem was caused by Crohn's disease, and he doesn't think there was any cancer. He can't be 100% sure until he gets the pathology reports. Charlotte still has pain, but it's pain from her surgery and not from the diseased colon. She will probably be in the hospital until next week. Thank you for all your kind thoughts and prayers for my sister. It means so much to me, and to her.

It's going to be a busy weekend. Melissa, Mike and MissM are coming on Friday night until Sunday. On Saturday I'll be going wedding dress shopping with Melissa. I have to remember to take a box of Kleenex.

I hope things are great in your corner of the world. Take care and thanks for stopping by.

Classics...

Last Thursday night we went to the weekly car show that's held at the local A&W. It was a great turnout, and there were so many cars to see. I love looking at the cars, and listening to the rock-n-roll music that they have blaring from the speakers. They call all the old cars Classics. The car in the above photo was made the year I was born - does that make me a Classic too?

When I was a teenager, the A&W on 109th Street in Edmonton was our local hang-out. There wasn't an indoor sit-down restaurant like this A&W has. They had carhops who brought your order to your car, and the tray was hung on your window. We spent many a Saturday night, cruisin' the Dub.

It was nice to see such a large turnout on Thursday. The cars were lined up from where I'm standing taking this picture all the way to the trees you see in the distance. It's a fun place to go on a Thursday night, and it's free! The DJ was doing trivia all night. The idea was to name the song playing, the singer and the year it came out. Eldon is a rock-n-roll music buff and he knew all of the songs. I told him to go up and tell the DJ the answer to one of the trivia questions and he won a big bottle of A&W Root Beer.

Look at the size of the white-walls on this old Pontiac. If I was driving this car, the white-walls sure wouldn't look this good. They'd be all scuffed! I usually hit the curb when I'm parking.

The back end of today's cars sure don't look this good. If you ask a kid today what a Continental Kit was, I don't think they'd have any clue. And they sure don't put as much chrome on today's vehicles, unless you own a Harley.

Interesting colour! The cars you see at these car shows are so well taken care of. You can see the pride of ownership in the way they are maintained. The engines are so clean, you could eat off them. The car shows are on every Thursday until September. I hope we get to go to a few more.

It's Father's Day on Sunday. My daughter and her boyfriend took Eldon and I out for lunch at a Chinese restaurant today, so Eldon gets to have Father's Day for two days in a row.

I hope you're having a good weekend in your corner of the world. Take care and thanks for visiting!

Soon there will be four....

On Sunday, we got the wonderful news that MissT is going to have a little brother or sister! The stork will be arriving in early December. A fourth grandchild...I can hardly wait! Both Terry and Ursula were beaming when they gave us the news. I think MissT is going to be a big help with the new baby. We went into Vancouver to have lunch at Terry and Ursula's, and then later we went over to Michael and Katy's for a visit. Little N is such a happy little fellow and it seems that he is so much bigger from when we saw him two weeks ago.

It seems to be the year for babies in our family. As well as Little N, we've had two nieces and one nephew who've had babies so far this year. The nephew didn't have the baby - his wife did...lol.

I have a confession to make. I have an addiction, and it's taking over my computer time. I'm addicted to a game on Facebook called FarmTown. I'm so busy plowing and planting and harvesting crops, that my blog and my family tree research seems to have taken a back seat. I really enjoy playing the game, and several of my Facebook friends play too so we can visit each other's farms and also send gifts. My sister in Ontario started playing and I try and get on the computer to see if she's farming. You can chat too, so that saves on the long distance charges on the phone. There are 34 levels in the game and I'm at level 32. My goal is to make it to level 34 and buy a mansion for my farm. One thing about playing a game is that it's a great way to get your mind off things for a while.

We have been having pretty good weather but we sure could use some rain. Our lawn is starting to get brown spots in it, and summer hasn't even arrived yet. The weatherman keeps saying it's going to rain but so far it hasn't.

Well, I better go tend to my farm...lol. I hope all is well in your corner of the world. Take care and thanks for stopping by.
